About qing.qing: born in China and moved to the US at age nine--bilingual, bicultural, doubly confused and wishes she were more easily amused, she's given the same schpeel to strangers who turn into acquaintances who turn into lovers who remain strangers who in turn become friends... and so and so forth.
Having finally graduated, qing.qing spans across seas from New York City to Beijing, watching and waiting for her worlds to collide. She spent her junior year of college abroad in China, enrolling in Nankai University so she could see first hand how Chinese college kids lived, learned, and regurgitated everything on a final that counted for everything. She also joined the school's rock n' roll BBS where she met some of her best friends and fainted for the first time at a Second-Hand Roses concert. She spent the latter half of the year "Bei-Piao"ing in Beijing, working for Time Out, Get It Louder, and all the strange opportunities one stumbles upon in a city of square dreams.
qing.qing has contributed or worked for Theme Magazine, Time Out Beijing, Marie Claire China, M theNewYorkArtWorld, the Get It Louder exhibition, the Asian American Writers' Workshop, various documentary / film and artist shows, and just came out of a workshop at the New York State Summer Writers' Institute ready to KUNGFU PANDA HUSTLE. Her choice of career as a writer, "media person" with a beat on China scares her parents. she prays for the best while eating whole fish!
